NCAwesome18 was founded in 2022 when the journey began to locate the most awesome 18 holes in the state of North Carolina. The idea was to help golf enthusiasts learn more about and experience some of the "hidden gems" across the state (not the ones that may already be widely known).

NCAwesome18 was founded in 2022 when the journey began to locate the most awesome 18 holes in the state of North Carolina. The idea was to help golf enthusiasts learn more about and experience some of the "hidden gems" across the state (not the ones that may already be widely known).
The focus of the selection process has primarily been on courses that are open to public play and where there is an interesting story to convey that is part of the course layout and history.
In 2023, NCAwesome18 devoted some energy to creating the New Bern Cup, an annual team golf competition.

The New Bern Cup is a team golf competition that was destined to become a reality in this small Eastern North Carolina town. NCAwesome18 got to work on this project and in 2023, the first annual New Bern Cup took place in June at Carolina Colours Golf Club and was won by Taberna CC. New Bern has 6 golf clubs, most of them also open to
The New Bern Cup is a team golf competition that was destined to become a reality in this small Eastern North Carolina town. NCAwesome18 got to work on this project and in 2023, the first annual New Bern Cup took place in June at Carolina Colours Golf Club and was won by Taberna CC. New Bern has 6 golf clubs, most of them also open to public, but each has an enthusiastic core of members that are enough to make up a team eggar to complete for the bragging rights, trophy and fun that comes with the event.
Each club fields a team of 8 men, 4 women and 1 golf pro and competes in what has typically been a stroke play event. Besides golf, there is also the opportunity to raise money for a designated local charity, so in the end, everybody has a good time and wins.
The 2024 New Bern Cup took place April 28, 2024 at Taberna Country Club. The Cup was won by Harbour Pointe GC.
The 2025 New Bern Cup was hosted by Harbour Pointe Golf Club on September 14, 2025 and was won by Taberna CC.
In October 2025, the annual tournament was renamed Genesis of New Bern Cup in recognition of the support provided by title sponsor Genesis of New Bern.
The 4th annual event will be held at Carolina Colours Golf Club on Sunday September 13, 2026
